Painting for boyfriend is done and cute lol, but I have a poor picture up. I wanted to get it scanned, but for the life of me I cannot find the USB cable to the scanner and my backup plan, my camera, is out of batteries and I can't seem to find any of those either.
I'm hoping to take a scan with a different scanner tomorrow, but I'm not sure how that's going to go.. that one has a history of freaking out and scanning in black and white for no apparent reason.. *sigh*
I got bored today and re-looked at the painting.. parts of it had been painted using a different brand of acrylic.. some discount brand that I had four colors of.. and was using it because it was just there.. But anyway, it dried to a totally different color than expected.. so I spent ten minutes touching up the black on the turtle, mostly on the shell because the yellow-ish shading had totally dominated after drying, it was obnoxious. I also added more wood-grain, since the brown dried lighter than expected, and it just felt wrong to me. Ten minutes well spent in my opinion. I am very happy with the painting right now. It was good to play with acrylic after so long without.
I also painted labels on my presents, but those are already under the tree.. and aforementioned camera is out of order... ugg, and I painted directly onto the wrapping paper so it'll get ripped.. They're nothing special, but I feel like I need to throw more recent stuff up here..
I also decorated a piece of paper.. painted black viney-looking branches on the whole 8.5x11 sheet, then I cut myself out a small cherry-blossom stamp, and put tons of those on the branches.. this paper was to put a gift-certificate in for my dad, since he got it for my mom but noticed the envelope it came in was clear-reddish and you could read the writing inside, spoiling the surprise.. I was in a creative mood, I could have just folded any old paper over the certificate.. but.. yea.. hahah I also did a pretty font-looking deal on her name, with black acrylic, and added some blossoms to that too, on the outside of the envelope.
Anyway, it was my first experience mixing acrylic with stamping.. I actually use acrylic on the stamp and it came out pretty well. Towards the end I experimented with adding a little water in with the acrylic to see what it would do to the stamped image. The effect was to die for, and I regretted not trying sooner, since it would have made the whole thing tens times prettier.
I am going to see if I can't play more with stamps right now. I really ought to just take pictures of the stamps I have made, when I get pictures for my camera. Swirls, snakes, turtles, fortune cookies.. now cherry blossoms.. I'm starting quite the collection, and it would be nice to show-case them
anyway, if I don't update before the 25th: MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

what would you do, if there was no tomorrow?
what if you only had tonight? a mere 24 hours to make things right...
